For the Best Weather ☀️: November to April

This is the dry season (known locally as the Iruvai season), and it’s when the Maldives truly shines — blue skies, calm seas, and sunshine nearly every day. These months are perfect for:

Honeymoons & special occasions
Resort stays & beach holidays
Snorkeling in crystal-clear waters
Picture-perfect sunsets

Peak months: December to March

(Tip: Book early — this is also the most popular and premium-priced season.)

For Fewer Crowds & Better Rates: May to October

These months fall under the wet or “hulhangu” monsoon season, but don’t let that put you off. Rain usually comes in short bursts, with plenty of sunshine in between. It's a great time for:

Budget-friendly travel
More availability at resorts and guesthouses
Lush, green island scenery
Surfing (best waves between May and September)

Bonus: This is also manta and whale shark season — especially around Baa Atoll and South Ari Atoll.

For Diving & Marine Life

The Maldives is a dream for divers year-round, with conditions varying slightly:

Jan–April: Calm waters, great visibility — especially on the eastern atolls
May–Nov: Rich plankton blooms bring mantas and whale sharks, especially to Baa and Ari Atolls

For Surfing 🏄‍♂️

The best surf conditions arrive between May and September, with consistent swells hitting the reef breaks of North Malé Atoll — think Sultans, Cokes, and Jailbreaks.
